Welcome Weekend is an event that takes place each year for incoming students to get the full MBU experience. We encourage our students to come hangout and learn our campus before classes start.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 21
Residence Life Move-in, 8:00am-12:00pm, Start at Parking Lot B
New student move-in. Students will drive through Parking Lot B to check-in and pick up their residence life welcome packet. Then students will drive to their residence hall where student leaders, student athletes, and faculty and staff will be waiting to help unload your car. There will be plenty of time before afternoon activities for that quick last trip to pick up finishing touches for your room or stock up on snacks.
Lunch Available, 11:00am-1:00pm, Dining Hall
Experience the newly renovated Dining Hall and an incredible menu created by our chef. Dining Hall staff will be available to help you download your FreshX app which will allow you to use your meal plan and Spartan Bucks in the Dining Hall, the Perk, and FreshOnDemand Machines located in Spartan Row and the Sports & Recreation Complex.
Welcome Week Check-In, 2:00pm-3:45pm, Mabee Great Hall, Chapel Building
Students check in for Welcome Weekend, discover which Spartan Orientation Team your part of, and pick up your family’s tickets for the President’s Picnic.
Matriculation Ceremony, 4:00pm – 4:45pm, Chapel
Each year MBU welcomes its new students with a Matriculation Ceremony to signify their acceptance into the school’s academic program. Students recite the Spartan Commitment and Academic Integrity Pledges; pledging to themselves, to their peers and to the university to uphold the highest standards.
President’s Picnic Dinner, 4:45pm-6:00pm, The Quad (Inclement Weather: SRC Lobby, Dining Hall, the Perk)
Enjoy dinner with your fellow classmates and their families. This is an opportunity to get to know other MBU students and their families and relax after a busy morning before the start of classes on Monday. The MBU community will be bustling with the excitement of music, great food and appearances by President Ross and the First Lady!
Prayer and Parent & Family Goodbye, 6:00pm-6:15pm
The University encourages this time for students and families to say their good-byes and pray for the year ahead before student-only events begin at 6:15pm.

**Part 1 of Community Life Credit for Welcome Weekend (must attend all parts to earn credit)
The 300 Initiation, 7:00pm-7:15pm, Chapel
A major component of the Spartan experience is supporting our NAIA award winning athletic teams. Our community is made up of over 700 student athletes who go out onto the field and represent who we are as a university. This event will introduce you to our teams, coaches, and most importantly to our athletes. You’ll also learn about the many traditions the University has throughout the year and how you can make the most of your Spartan experience.
Men’s Soccer Game, Conway Classic, 7:30pm kick off, Spartan Field
Students - you’re now part of The 300 and part of the student section. Your first opportunity to cheer on your fellow Spartan Athletes is at the annual Conway Classic as the Spartan Men’s Soccer team take on Maryville University.
Open Gym & Intramural Activities, 9:00pm-11:00pm
Bring your athletic clothes and stay up late in the SRC with group fitness classes, open gym, and other organized athletic, fitness, and intramural events throughout the evening!
SUNDAY, AUGUST 22
By participating in Welcome Weekend Orientation new students have the ability to earn credits toward their Community Life Credit requirements. To earn Community Life Credits, students must attend all activities listed below.

Chapel Service, 9:00am-9:30am, Chapel

Today, we prepare to start the academic year with a time of worship and celebration helps us to orient our hearts towards the academic year! This meaningful time of song, prayer, scripture reading and short meditation from our University Minister sets the tone for the new year. All are welcome for this time of reflection and celebration!

You’re a Spartan now! This is the start of your MBU experience and Welcome Weekend will help you explore, embrace and engage in what it means to become more than a student but a true Spartan who contributes to the vibrant campus community. Family and community life is rooted in values, history and traditions that help guide us in our interactions and daily living. Our core values help each individual live for our friends, our community, our family and our University. MBU values our Christian community that integrates faith and learning. Our values and Christian commitment inform our interactions as we intentionally develop relationships, create a welcoming environment and inclusive community. These foundational concepts help us create a safe and secure environment.

MBU is filled with caring staff and faculty who provide support resources for your overall well-being and learning. Various offices provide specialized support for your physical, mental, and academic success.
Dinner, 5:00pm-6:00pm, Dining Hall
All new students participating in Welcome Weekend can use the Dining Hall for Dinner.
Spartan Up, 6:00pm-7:00pm, Chapel
**Part 4 of 4 Community Life Credit for Welcome Weekend (must attend all parts to earn credit)
Being a Spartan has its own unique hallmarks that you need to know about so that you can make your time here more than just a degree, but a truly amazing adventure filled with spectacular and memorable stories. It’s the perfect place to find anything you’ve ever hoped for in a place to live. Not only is MBU special, but St. Louis has incredible opportunities that will help you create memories with your fellow Spartans through activities, events, and ways to give back and serve our local community.
All Residence Life Mandatory Meeting, 7:00pm-8:00pm, Chapel
Any student living in the Residence Halls (new students and upperclass students) must attend the mandatory Residence Hall meeting.
Mandatory Residence Hall meeting by Floor & RA, 8:00pm-9:00pm, Individual Residence Halls
Residential Students will transition from the Residence Life Mandatory Meeting to a Residence Hall Floor meeting with their Residence Assistant (RA). Your RA will help provide additional information on ways to connect to student support resources, get familiarized with your residence hall, and begin the process of creating community within your area.
