Media Talk, with Bob Davidson
Media Talk, sponsored by the Communications Department, is a free speaker series that brings media experts to the MBU campus. For this event, MBU welcomes Bob Davidson, Vice President of Community Relations – Integrated Marketing for Mercy, the nation’s fifth-largest Catholic health system.
In this role, Mr. Davidson directs the Community Relations function at 22 hospitals across four states. Davidson joined the 40,000-employee health provider in April 2011, just before a major rebranding that unified the health ministry and all its facilities under the single Mercy name. He is part of a leadership team that is introducing data analytics and marketing science to what had been a more traditional marketing organization.
Before joining Mercy, Davidson led the Marketing & Communications group at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital for 9 years and concurrently served as adjunct professor of communications at Webster University, specializing in media & crisis communications. His other previous health care experience included 8 years leading the communications function at Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Louis.
Other Media Talk guests have included St. Louis Cardinals’ vice-president of communications Ron Watermon, St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson, St. Louis Fire Department captain and spokesperson Gregg Favre, sportscaster Frank Cusumano, Saint Louis Zoo public relations director Susan Gallagher and long-time St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist Bill McClellan.
